Monday Memo September 16, 2019

Dean's Message

Dear Colleagues,

Many thanks to those of you who shared your time with me at the State of the College. I enjoyed the opportunity to highlight the many achievements of our faculty, staff, and students, and hopefully convey to you what I see as our priorities for this academic year.

Today, it is a pleasure to highlight new additions to our Monday Memo. Please look for our new spots with brief information on diversity and inclusion, as well as sustainability. These new spots will identify our achievements and provide helpful suggestions for ways in which can improve. We also announce in today’s message a new informal process by which we can recognize the staff and faculty who have been especially thoughtful, caring, or made the extra effort in recent work.

Please also consider participating in the A&S effort to help “Cards Come Together,” announced last week by President Bendapudi. We will be collecting donations until October 22 for Jefferson County Public Schools, Dare to Care, Volunteers of America Men’s Recovery Program, and Catholic Charities. The items desired and our locations with A&S collection boxes are noted in today’s message. Please also consider participating in service activities on scheduled for the week of October 21 so that we can show the community our caring Cardinal spirit.

Sincerely,

Kimberly Kempf-Leonard, Ph.D.
Dean

Performance evaluation information

It’s that time of year again - time for annual performance evaluations! The evaluation is a performance conversation for both the employee and supervisor and an opportunity to review your expectations, successes, and concerns for the fiscal year (7/1-6/30).

Each employee should be given the opportunity to complete a self-assessment form. The forms are new, so take a moment to review the link below for any question that you may have.

All forms are due to the A&S Dean’s Office no later than October 15, 2019. Please send the forms via campus mail to A&S Erin Wood or through the HR service account at ashumres@louisville.edu. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Erin Wood at 852-8041 or emwood01@louisville.edu

Kentuckiana Heart Walk is this Saturday, 9/21

It's only 5 days until the Kentuckiana Heart Walk - Saturday, September 21st.  Support is needed to reach both the $75,000 university fund goal as well as the overarching Kentuckiana Heart Walk goal of $1,045,000. Please consider making a personal gift and/or registering to participate in the event.

While there are countless reasons to support the AHA, the #1 reason is that the American Heart Association’s primary mission is to be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives. Moreover, UofL derives a major benefit from funds provided by the American Heart Association.

Please join your UofL colleagues in supporting the American Heart Association. Remember all gifts will help further fund life-saving research to keep hearts beating!
