Dean's Message

It's Homecoming Week! There a number of Homecoming activities going on this week. The complete calendar of events is on the UofL Alumni page. There are two things I want to emphasize though:

  • Psych alumnus Ernest A. Brooks, III is coming to campus to accept the UofL Alumni Fellow Award. The Awards dinner is on Thursday evening (registration required), and there is a student meet and greet on Friday. If you know Mr. Brooks or see him on campus, please be sure to congratulate him!
  • Raise Some L, UofL's annual day of giving, is October 24 and I would love to see record participation. (Actually, it starts on 10/23 at 6:02PM and will last a total of 1798 minutes commemorating UofL's founding year!) Give as little as $10 and help the College's programs get $5,000 in additional funding. Participation is what matters as it is the the area of campus with the greatest number of donors that will get the $5K. More below.

Finally, I am giving away tickets for the Homecoming game this Saturday. If you would like to be entered into the drawing for two tickets, please email asdean@louisville.edu by 3 pm this Wednesday.

I hope to see you around at some of the Homecoming activities. GO CARDS!

Sincerely,
Kimberly Kempf-Leonard, Ph.D.
Dean

Upcoming performance management training services

HR has developed a new staff performance evaluation form. ALL supervisors are encouraged to attend a training session as the form is quite different from past evaluation tools. The form is a more streamlined, concise performance evaluation form. The performance evaluation period also will transition from the calendar year to the fiscal year. If you have not done so yet, please register online for a training session. If the available times don't work with your schedule, please email Bridget Burke

Great Place to Invest

Raise Some L, UofL Day's of Giving, starts tomorrow

Just a little over 24 hours until it's time to Raise Some L. Please consider making a gift of $10 or more. The success of this event depend on the percentage of the UOfL community who give, not the amount raised so participation is key! And know you can target your gift to the area of your choice.

Beginning at 6:02 p.m. on Oct. 23, for 1,798 minutes, Cardinals everywhere will come together to Raise Some L. This is a Cardinal call to action to all students, alumni, faculty, staff, and fans to do two simple things:

  • Go to RaiseSomeL.org and make a gift
  • Spread the word via email and social media. Be sure to use the hashtag #RaiseSomeL when using social media.

If you wish to become an "L Raiser" by encouraging your networks to give to a program of your choosing, it's easy to do. Sign up at RaiseSomeL.org and you'll get your very own dashboard that will track the gifts you bring in.

Halloween Reminder

As we approach Halloween and the many activities related to it, please take time to consider your fellow Cardinals when choosing costumes and themes. It is important to remember that blackface and other forms of cultural appropriation are culturally insensitive and may be offensive to others. This is particularly true of costumes that depict other races, cultures and/or identities.
