A Community Conversation with Police

A community conversation to support the dialogue between police and our community will take place Tuesday, December 9, from 6 to 8pm at the Louisville Urban League (1535 W. Broadway). Prof. Ricky Jones, Pan-African Studies, will serve as moderator. Panelists include LMPD Chief Steve Conrad, Prof. Deborah G. Keeling, Justice Administration, Prof. David S. Owen, Philosophy, and Prof. Cedric M. Powell, Law.

Unity Dinner honoring the late Dean J. Blaine Hudson

The Kentucky Alliance Unity Celebration: 40 Years of Fighting for Civil Rights and Social Justice featuring Angela Davis will be held on Friday,December 19. The late Dean of Arts & Sciences Dr. J. Blaine Hudson will be honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award. The other honorees include: Nancy De Martra, Prof. Kaila Story, Women’s and Gender Studies and Pan-African Studies, and Daniel T. ORAU Seeking Postdoctoral Associate

ORAU is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate with an interest in big data and excellent communication skills. The appointment can begin as early as Monday,December 15, and the current funding extends through September 30, 2015. 2015 i2a SUN Grants Call for Proposals

For the 2015 SUN Grant cycle, the i2a Steering Committee will award up to $4,000 for each successful proposal that is submitted by the unit’s respective i2a Leadership Committee chair and that supports relevant i2a projects to be implemented in the 2015-2016 academic year. Individual proposals should be submitted to respective unit i2a Leadership Committees for review by Tuesday,January 20. Unit i2a Leadership Committees should submit selected proposals to the i2a Steering Committee by Tuesday,February 3. More information – including application guidelines, SUN Grant forms, and a selection rubric – is available at the SUN Grants website.

Boren Awards

Opportunities are available for top performing graduate and undergraduate students to see global regions especially relevant to current world affairs at government expense! Interested potential candidates should schedule a meeting with Boren Campus Representative, Dr. Patricia Condon (located in the Overseers Honors House, National Scholarship Office), by Friday, December 19. Appointments may be scheduled by contacting Heather Turner.
