Message from the Provost re: 21st Century University
As Dr. Ramsey announced recently, the university is beginning a campus-wide process to position itself to meet our 2020 goals and to better serve our students and the community for decades to come.
I will oversee this effort, which we are calling the 21st Century University Initiative. It will be a months-long process that will begin with an exploration of our strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and threats. Once we have established where we are, we will begin to craft a vision of our future. Where would we like to be in 2020 and beyond?
Finally, once we have our base and our vision, we will develop a plan for the future and begin implementing it immediately.
We want you to share in our vision and to participate in the process, which will be inclusive, collaborative and transparent.
I ask that you take a few moments to read the vision statement for this project and prepare to participate.
Excelcor, a higher education and management efficiencies consultant, is helping us with this process. Scott Nostaja of that firm will hold open forums on the Belknap Campus and Health Sciences Center to begin gathering input. The forums will be Thursday, Nov. 29, at 9 a.m. in the Baxter Building Auditorium and at 1 p.m. in the Floyd Theater.
We also have set up a website that will provide much more information on the process.
This is an exciting day for the University of Louisville. We have made great strides, and I look forward to working with the campus for an even better future.
