Curriculum Committee Minutes

September 12, 2008

The minutes of the meetings of April 18 and August 19, 2008, were approved as distributed.

Natalia Polzer reported that she would not be able to serve as the committee’s representative to the General Education Course Committee. Beth Willey agreed to serve on the committee.

The committee discussed the document presented by Professor Pfeffer on “Minimum Guidelines for Graduate Education.” The committee recommended raising to 3.0 (from 2.5) the grade point average required for admission to graduate programs. (A process for exceptions is included in the document.) The committee also asked that the grievance process for graduate students be made clear through assignment to the College’s Academic Discipline Committee.

Decisions were made on two student petitions regarding exceptions the policy on college honors.

The following course actions were approved.

PADM 611: title change to Financial Management of Nonprofits

PSYC 406: prerequisite change

LBST 400: change to 1-6 credit hours (from 3 or 6)

ENGL 633: title change to Renaissance Poetry and Prose

Action was deferred on GR 501 and 502 until a representative of the department could be present.
