Members Present: A. Allen, B. Beattie (Chair), M. D'Silva, U. Darji, A. Kolers, M. Rohmann, R. Taylor

A student petition for an exception to the policy on graduation with College honors was denied.

The committee approved the request of the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences to provide WR credit for a small number of graduating majors through PSYC 311-312 during AY 03-04.

PSYC 311 was changed to PSYC 302 and PSYC 312 was changed to PSYC 301, effective Fall 2004. (301 and 302 will count as repeat options for 312 and 311.)

The committee supported the Department of Classical and Modern Languages in their decision to require placement testing of in-coming freshmen who have had two or more years of high school language instruction in French or Spanish. The committee discussed a number of potential problems in identifying this population and monitoring their appropriate enrollment.

The committee approved a proposal from the Department of Biology for a track in the undergraduate major that would become part of a combined B.A./B.S. and M.A.T. degree. The approval was contingent upon clarification of some conditions with the CEHD. The proposal would require postponing the granting of the baccalaureate degree until the completion of the M.A.T.
