The Rape of the Nile: Archaeologists and Adventurers Discover Ancient Egypt

Dr. Brian Fagan, University of California, Santa Barbara

In this fascinating journey along the River Nile, eminent archaeologist Brian Fagan tells the story of the beginnings of Egyptology. It is an Indiana Jones-like tale of high adventure and great discoveries, of tomb robbing and downright villainy. The compelling heroes and villains range from General Napoleon Bonaparte, to Howard Carter, discoverer of the tomb of the boy pharaoh Tutankhamun. This is a unique excursion into a world where relic hunters were not afraid to go after their competitors with a gun, and where the stakes were royal treasures and international fame.
