This presentation explores the Fair Trade Towns movement in which fair trade advocates and retailers are collaborating to 'grow the fair trade market' one community at a time by bringing together schools, places of worship, retailers and community organizations. These campaigns attempt to root fair trade consumption in local places--a critical turn in the fair trade movement which opens up a politics of possibility for the promotion of alternative economic practices.
