"Race, Politics and the American Dream," a public discussion featuring a new book on Barack Obama by Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary professor and author Johnny Bernard Hill. "The First Black President: Barack Obama, Race, Politics, and the American Dream" will be discussed and signed, with refreshments to follow.

Hill will provide commentary on the historical significance of the Obama presidency. He also will contend that it is imperative now more than ever for America to push for equality. A panel featuring community leaders including Louisville Metro Councilwoman Judith Green and radio personality Mark Gunn will reflect on the book and offer insights into how its themes might be applied locally.

The event is jointly sponsored by The Anne Braden Institute for Social Justice Research at the University of Louisville and The Black Church Studies Program at Louisville Seminary. For questions about the public discussion or the book, call 502-632-2548.
