Margaret Carreiro is Professor of Biology with interests in ecosystem ecology of terrestrial habitats. She will discuss how global expansion of human emigration and trade in recent centuries have profoundly influenced native biodiversity of exotic species altering ecological systems across our planet and causing unintended social and economic costs. Dr. Carreiro will also talk how our own yard can contribute to local conservation efforts in the region.
Admission ($14 per person/cash or check) includes lunch. Reservations are required at least 3 days prior to the event.
"Meet the Professor" lectures are presented by the University of Louisville College of Arts and Sciences and the Liberal Studies Project as part of the "First Thursdays" monthly Lunch and Lecture series.
