Charles Bernstein is Donald T. Regan Professor of English and Comparative Literature, University of Pennsylvania.
He is the author of over twenty collections of poetry, most recently All the Whiskey in Heaven: Selected Poems (2011) and Girly Man (2006), and four collections of essays, including Attack of the Difficult Poems: Essays and Inventions (2011) and My Way: Speeches and Poems (1999). He has edited Close Listening: Poetry and the Performed Word (1999) and The Politics of Poetic Form: Poetry and Public Policy (1990), and, with Bruce Andrews, the influential poetics magazine L=A=N=G=U=A=G=E. Bernstein’s awards include fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, the New York Foundation for the Arts, and the National Endowment for the Arts. In 2006 he was elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
