"Neoliberalism and the War on Our Youth" with lecturer Dr. Robin D.G. Kelley
- Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012
- 5:30 PM
- UofL's Belknap Playhouse (1911 S. Third St.)
Dr. Robin Kelley is the Gary B. Nash professor of American history at the University of California Los Angeles. His talk, "Neoliberalism and the War on Our Youth," is expected to address mass incarceration, punitive measures against African Americans in public schools, Occupy Wall Street, the fatal shooting of Florida teen Trayvon Martin, and more.
Representatives from UofL's Anne Braden Institute for Social Justice Research will open the lecture event by unveiling a draft of an action plan for fair housing in Louisville, part of the findings from a study the ABI has been conducting with Metro Housing Coalition and Louisville Metro Human Relations Commission.
The lecture is free and open to the public. Parking is available at meters along Third Street, along Cardinal Blvd, or in the Speed Museum Garage.
