Commonwealth Center for Humanities and Society Emergency Plan

The Commonwealth Center for the Humanities and Society currently has only two employees, Director Tom Byers and Program Assistant Jennifer Stephens.

In the event of a pandemic, the illness of a guest speaker, or another event that necessitates cancellation of a planned program, the Director (Tom Byers) or the Program Assistant will contact U of L Today as well as the Center’s publicity list, and will try to hand-mark all fliers or other paper advertisements indicating the cancellation.  Also, a notice will be posted on the entrance to the event site.

If both the Director and the Program Assistant are indisposed, Anne Domeck of the A&S Dean’s Office will be contacted for help in covering the necessary communications.

If an event is to be held but the Director cannot attend, he will ask a colleague to cover for him.  First option: Andrew Rabin, Department of English.  Second option: Alan Golding, Department of English.

In general other Center business should either be covered by the Director via phone or e-mail or will be postponed until he is well enough to deal with it.
