CODRE/Office of Research Diversity Grant For Undergraduate Students

The request for this funding initiative will be focused on support of UofL undergraduate student research that targets populations which are the focus of the commission--diverse, under-served, under-represented and/or vulnerable populations.  Any student research project submitted for funding must have UofL faculty supervision and appropriate institutional approval.  The student investigator must have completed his/her sophomore year or completed at least 60 credit hours at the University of Louisville at the time the application is submitted.  The student need not be from a minority or diversity population.  Research projects can come from any discipline represented at U of L.  It is recommended that all applicants for this grant review the U of L Commission on Diversity and Racial Equality web page for details about CODRE.  Interested students who are experiencing difficulty in locating a mentor in their discipline may contact the CODRE Office (852-2029) for assistance.

We anticipate that funding would be provided for the conduct of research could begin as soon as the summer semester 2010.  Applicants can be funded one time only and the funding period cannot exceed one year.  It is expected that at least three awards will be made this year for a maximum duration of one year.  At the completion of the research, awardees will be responsible for dissemination of research outcomes at the University of Louisville Undergraduate Research Symposium and will be required to provide a written report of the completed project to CODRE and the Office of Research.  Presentations at local, state or national meetings and venues are also encouraged.
