Jason Abbott, the Director of the Center for Asian Democracy, will discuss the latest dramatic changes in Burma, a country long considered a pariah by the international community. Since the release of Nobel Laureate Aung San Suu Kyi from house arrest, Burma has embarked upon a series of reforms. There have been free and fair parliamentary elections, liberation of prominent political prisoners and the conclusion of peace agreements with some of the ethnic insurgents who fight for greater autonomy.

Admission ($14 per person and $7 for students - check or cash) includes lunch. Reservations are required at least 3 days prior to the event.  Please contact Janna Tajibaeva at 852-2247 or
