Derek Mong is the 2008-2010 Axton Poetry Fellow at the University of Louisville. In 2006-2007, he was the Jay C. and Ruth Halls Poetry Fellow at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and he has previously taught at SUNY Albany, the University of Michigan, and for young writers’ workshops at Kenyon College and Denison University. His awards include the Jeffrey E. Smith Editors’ Choice Prize from the Missouri Review, two Pushcart nominations, two Hopwood Awards, and the Happy Hour Poetry Award from Alehouse. His poems, translations and prose can be found in The Southern Review, Crazyhorse, The Michigan Quarterly Review, TriQuarterly, and elsewhere. In 2011, Saturnalia Books will publish his debut collection.
