Pre-requisites for Arts & Sciences Minors

You must be accepted to a major before being accepted to an A&S minor. You can apply for a minor here.

Please consult the undergraduate catalog (see page 8 index) for any minors not appearing in this list.

Aerospace Studies: Must be a student in the AIRS program.  For Track II: Requires previous military service and enrollment in the AIRS program

Archaeology: 2.0 cumulative GPA

Anthropology (Forensic): 2.0 cumulative GPA

Art (Fine Art): 2.0 cumulative GPA, must submit a portfolio and application with statement of intent (see art dept website for application).

Art History: 2.0 cumulative GPA, must submit a portfolio and application with statement of intent (see art dept website for application). If a previously approved Art BA studio major wants to add an art history minor or major they just need to contact the art dept for further instructions.

Asian Studies: 2.0 cumulative GPA

Biology: Admission to the minor in Biology requires: completion of Biology 240, 242 and 244 with a
grade of C or better; completion of Mathematics 111 with a grade of C or better OR placement
into a mathematics course above the level of Mathematics 111 on the basis of either the
University of Louisville mathematics placement examination or ACT/SAT score; and a
minimum overall grade point average of 2.0.

Communication: Completion of Comm 201 with a grade of C or better, 2.0 cumulative GPA, 2.0 minor GPA

International Health Studies: 2.0 cumulative GPA

Justice Administration: Must meet with Departmental Advisor

Math: Completion of Math 205 or higher with a “C” or better. 2.0 or higher in Math minor courses.

Military Science: Must be a student in the MILS program. For Track II: Requires previous military service and enrollment in the MILS program

Psychology: Admission to the minor in Psychology requires (1) completion of Psychology 201 (or approved substitute) with a minimum grade of C; (2) completion of the Gen Ed Mathematics requirement; (3) completion of Psychology 301 (or approved substitute) with a minimum grade of C; (4) completion of 30 hours of degree-applicable credit with a minimum grade point average of 2.0; (5) a minimum grade point average of 2.0 in Psychology; and (6) a minimum
grade of C- in all courses used to meet departmental requirements in the Psychology minor.  Completion of the minor requires completion of Psychology 302 (or approved substitute) with a minimum grade of C, and a minimum grade of C- in all courses used to meet departmental requirements in the Psychology minor.

Socio-Cultural Anthropology: 2.0 cumulative GPA

Sociology: Completion of Soc 301 (or appropriate substitute) with a grade of C or better, 2.0 cumulative GPA, 2.0 minor GPA
