Gallery Talk by Professor John Whitesell
The Hite Art Institute presents a Gallery Talk by Professor John Whitesell about his current exhibition, In Retrospect: Four Decades, which is currently on view in Schneider Hall Galleries. Professor Whitesell will lead the discussion of his work, spanning forty years. He will be taking questions from any one attending the talk, including alumni, former students, collegues, and the general public. Professor Whitesell, head of the printmaking program, former Chair of Fine Arts and Director of the Hite Art Institute, is represented in more than twenty-five public collections including the Library of Congress. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Earlham College and MFA from Indiana University. He also studied printmaking at Miami University of Ohio. Over the span of his career Whitesell has had several mentors including Marvin Lowe and Rudy Pozzatti at Indiana University, as well as Robert Wolfe at Miami University. He also received an Indiana Artist Fellowship and a National Endowment for the Arts Grant. He has exhibited his prints throughout the United States and internationally in over 150 exhibitions. Images of his work have been published in several venues and online.
