Spring 2010 - MA Thesis

Hite Galleries - Cressman Center

MA Thesis Exhibitions
Sarah Hall, Eric Haynes & Joanne Weis

April 2 – May 15, 2010

Reception: Friday, April 2, 6 – 9 p.m.

The artworks in this spring’s MA Thesis exhibitions evoke worlds, either, imagined or interpreted from literature, and from places visited on travels. Sarah Hall creates her own imaginative narrative in a series of 23 screen prints bound together under the title, “Agave and the Bats.”  Eric Haynes makes a visual translation of Dante’s Infrerno in his digitally manipulated photographic imagery displayed in light boxes.  And, finally, Joanne Weis uses her travels to places of social and spiritual significance as sources of inspiration for her textile work.

The Cressman Center is at 100 E. Main St. (40204), First & Main, in downtown Louisville.

In addition to the art gallery, the Cressman Center is home to the Hite Art Institute's Glass Studios, which are also accessible during gallery hours and host visiting artists in glass and several public demos and lectures each year. (Map of Hite locations.)
