Class Permissions for Studio Arts Courses
How To Obtain Permission
for Restricted Courses
Fall 2009
- You MUST be an accepted major in the Department
of Fine Arts in either the BA Studio Art or BFA program to enroll
in art courses.
All art courses are restricted to majors only.
- Pre-Registration: Monday, April 6 - Tuesday, April 14.
Special Undergraduates: Wednesday, April 15.
Open Registration for Continuing Students: April 16 - June 24.
Extended Registration for Continuing Students: July 8 - July 20.
Late Registration for Continuing Students; Open Registration for New Students; and Drop/Add web and Touchtone Hours: Thursday, July 30 - Monday, August 24. MONDAY, AUGUST 24 IS THE FIRST DAY OF CLASSES AND THE LAST DAY TO INITIALLY REGISTER.
- Registration is closed:
July 21 - July 29.
- Fine Arts Advisor: Accepted Fine Arts majors who
need advising should contact their assigned Fine Arts advisor directly
to schedule an appointment (see contact information below). If you
do not know your assigned advisor, visit the
advisors list here.
- 100-level courses:
Accepted Fine Arts majors wishing to enroll in 100 level courses DO NOT
NEED permission from the department to register. If you are an accepted
major and the system blocks you, contact Theresa Berbet in the Fine
Arts Office for assistance (502.852.6794 or tberbet
louisville.edu).
- 300-level courses:
Accepted Fine Arts majors wishing to enroll in 300 level courses DO NOT
NEED permission from the department to register, provided all
prerequisites have been met. If you are an accepted major and have met
the prerequisites and the system blocks you, contact Theresa Berbet in
the Fine Arts Office for assistance (502.852.6794 or tberbet
louisville.edu).
- 500-level courses:
All 500 level Art courses require permission from the instructor to
register. Please email the instructor of the course you wish to take
with the following information:
- Your full name
- Your U of L student ID number
- Your Major
- Program you currently enrolled in: BA or BFA and which track
- Prerequisites you have completed for this class
- Once the instructor has granted you permission, he or she will notify the Department staff
to enter it into the registration system.
- Once your permission have been entered into the system you may then
register for the course.
- Permission for Art Courses is Restricted to Accepted Majors
only. Permission is granted to non-majors under special circumstances
only (i.e. students completing prerequisites for the MEd program in Art Therapy in the College of Education).
- The Department does not permit auditing of courses by non-majors.
