Making It: Now - An exhibition of recently graduated alumni

This exhibition is composed of fifty-four alumni who received arts degrees from either a BA in Fine Arts, BFA In Studio Arts, BFA in Communication Arts and Design, BFA in Interior Architecture, MA in Studio Arts or MAT at the University of Louisville since 2000. They are currently working as artists, arts educators, designers, illustrators, curators, gallery directors and arts activists. They also may be running their own business and/or continuing their education (two are currently in PhD programs). Of the alumni in “Making it: Now”, twenty-seven have gone on to earn higher degrees at other institutions including Tyler School of Art, Yale University, Cranbrook Academy of Art, Virginia Commonwealth University, New York Academy of Art, Carnegie Mellon University, New York University, Rhode Island School of Art, University of Pennsylvania, Pratt, University of Cincinnati and University of Wisconsin-Madison. Some have stayed in Louisville or this region while others have moved to New York, Brooklyn, Philadelphia, San Francisco and all points between.

Making it: Now

The University of Louisville Hite Art Institute is happy to announce an exhibition for recently graduated alumni (from 2000 to 2010).  This exhibition, in conjunction with Seeking Bob Thompson, to be held at the Cressman Center for Visual Arts 10/19-11/24/12, is part of the 75th Anniversary Celebration of the founding of the Department of Fine Arts at the University of Louisville.

The following three events will coincide with the exhibition:

  • Wednesday, October 10, 6-7pm, Hite Galleries, Schneider Hall -
    Pre-opening special event "2012 U.S. Cities Contemporary Art Rankings: A New Hierarchial Approach" (Louisville 2012 edition), Andy Studevant's interactive performance piece.
  • Thursday, October 11, 5:30-7:30pm, Hite Galleries, Schneider Hall- Opening Reception
  • Friday, October 12, Noon, Hite Galleries, Schneider Hall- "Strategies: Where did we go from here," A panel discussion by the University of Louisville alumni from the "Making it: Now" exhibition.  Alumni will focus on their strategies for a career in the arts.
