IN RETROSPECT: John Whitesell Four Decades
John Whitesell has been a notable Professor of Fine Arts specializing in printmaking at the University of Louisville since 1973. He has also served as former Chair of Fine Arts and Director of the Hite Art Institute. He is represented in more than twenty-five public collections including the Library of Congress. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Earlham College and MFA from Indiana University. He also studied printmaking at Miami University of Ohio. Over the span of his career he has had several mentors including Marvin Lowe and Rudy Pozzatti at Indiana University, as well as Robert Wolfe at Miami University. IN RETROSPECT: John Whitesell Four Decades highlights artwork from his outstanding career over the past 40 years. It celebrates and honors his tremendous influence at the University, his recognition in the field of printmaking, and his continuing impact on students and peers.
