Lambda Alpha Scholarship

Lambda Alpha National Honors Society

National Lambda Alpha Scholarship

The Lambda Alpha National Scholarship is to be awarded to a *TRUE graduating senior (summer 2011) majoring in anthropology.  Our chapter may send forward only ONE candidate for this award.  The winner of the scholarship will be announced in early May, 2011.

Interested and qualified students should submit to Paula Huffman (Lutz Hall room 230) before the February 15 deadline the following materials (hardcopy):

  1. Curriculum vitae.
  2. Transcript of all undergraduate grades
  3. A statement of future professional plans (1-2 pages)
  4. Three copies (printed front-to-back, with no covers/folders) of the applicant's professional writing (e.g. a publication or course paper, 6-15 pages).  Co-authored publications and contract archaeological reports are not acceptable.  The submission should be no more than "article length."  The purpose is to evaluate formal writing skill, not to demonstrate research productivity.

*An applicant is considered an eligible graduating senior for purposes of completing for the National Lambda Alpha Scholarship Award if she/he has acquired formal senior status since the last competition or if she/he competes as an ongoing senior, but must then graduate by the end of the academic year.  An applicant can compete only once for the award.

Upon receiving all of the applications, a departmental committee will review all the materials submitted and select the nominee of our chapter to compete for the National Lambda Alpha scholarship.  The nominee will be announced by March 1, 2011.
