Anthropology Internships
Gain real work experience. Prepare for you future career. Internships allow students to explore the world of anthropology and work in an environment where classroom knowledge is applied to practical learning skills.
Kentucky Archaeological Survey
Perform archaeological fieldwork; wash, process and identify artifacts; instruct and supervise visiting school children and the public.
US Army Corp of Engineers
Provide technical support to plan, develop, implement and evaluate programs for cultural resource management. Specific duties include: research to identify historic and archaeological sites, mapping, data entry, prepare charts/tables, and lab work.
Kentucky Refugee Ministries
Students will engage in hands on work in resettlement of refugees who are legally admitted by the U.S. State Department. We are currently working with Bosnians, Cubans, Iraqis, Haitians, Sudanese, and Somalis.
City Office for International and Cultural Affairs (Mayor's Office)
Identify social service agencies serving internationals and problems in access; assist in resettlement process; identify and mobilize skills and talents within ethnic communities and assist in projects such as art fairs to increase visibility.
Additional Internships and Opportunities
Students can participate in other internships that are not directly sponsored by the Department of Anthropology. In the past, students have done internships with the UNHCR in India, a Middle East development organization in Washington D.C., and with activist groups in Louisville. If you have a specific internship opportunity, contact your favorite professor in the Department of Anthropology.
