Socio-Cultural Anthropology

About

I received my BA in International Studies from the University of Kentucky, focusing on thematic conversations of human rights and social movements in North Africa and the Middle East.  Following graduation, I spent 2.5 years in South America, backpacking from Colombia until settling in Santiago, Chile where I worked as an ESL teacher for two years.

I returned to Louisville, Kentucky in 2015 and began course work at the University of Louisville in August of 2016.  I have experience working with local non-profits that serve the refugee and immigrant population.  I am currently interning with Americana Community Center in working to develop a childcare program.  I also serve as an Americana ambassador.

My focus on socio-cultural Anthropology supplements my personal and professional/volunteer experience.  I have chosen to pursue the internship or “option B” opportunity following the completion of my coursework in the spring of 2018.  My interests continue to concern the refugee and immigrant population and it is my intention to work in a professional setting that advocates for equality and empowerment together and with the community members for whom that organization serves
