Professor Frank Nuessel: "Names and Naming"

Frank Nuessel is Professor and University Scholar in the Department of Classical and Modern Languages, with teaching and research interests in linguistics. You can also find him more and more online in news articles and blogs about names and what they mean.
His book “Study of Names” is a classic in the field. Nuessel coined the term “aptonym” for a name that seems to predict a person’s character or profession. His presentation will address various aspects of naming in our society which identify people, places, concepts, and products.
