The Braden Institute was originated in Spring 2007 through the UofL College of Arts and Sciences. It received three years of start-up funding of $25,000/year beginning in July 2007. It was approved by the Faculty Senate and the Board of Trustees in late fall 2007, and opened its reading room/office space—featuring Carl and Anne Braden’s Library-- in Ekstrom Library on April 4, 2007.
