All applications are reviewed by the Scholarship Committee of the Board of Directors within the third or fourth week of May. It is within their discretion to award scholarships, change the criteria, and award additional scholarship money to qualifying applicants when circumstances are appropriate.
Rodney Williams Legacy Scholarship
This program was developed to benefit the children and grandchildren of UofL alumni. It was recently created in honor of long-term Alumni Association Director, Rodney Williams Jr. This is not a need-based scholarship. However, in cases of ties, need may be used as a determining factor.
Requirements:
- Must be related (i.e. son, daughter, granddaughter, cousin) to a UofL graduate. This also includes the institutions that merged with UofL such as Jefferson School of Law, the medical and dental residency programs, Kentucky Southern College and Louisville Municipal College.
- Any incoming or current student can apply
- Only currently enrolled UofL students who are RWL scholarship recipients may apply each year for up to four years
- 3.0 GPA
- Must be a full-time student for the semester in which the scholarship is awarded
Include with completed application:
- Resume or list of school, community and civic activities
- 300-word essay topic: "The University of Louisville's slogan is 'It's Happening Here.' Tell us how you see UofL accomplishing this slogan and how you see yourself contributing to this challenge while at UofL."
- Two letters of recommendation--one must be from a professor or teacher, the other may be from an employer, community leader, friend or relative
Application Deadline: March 15
Scholarship: To be determined by the committee.
Outstanding Undergraduate Scholarship (SOAR)
The SOAR scholarship provides funds to an active member of the Student Organization for Alumni Relations who has shown dedication to their alma mater and the Alumni Association. The student must be registered full-time for the semester for which the scholarship is awarded. This is an award for service and one student will receive a $1,000 scholarship.
Include with completed application:
- Resume or list of school, community and civic activities
- Two letters of recommendation--one must be from a professor or teacher, the other may be from an employer, community leader, friend or relative
- A 300 word essay addressing why you are applying for the scholarship, and detail your current involvement with SOAR and your goals for future involvement with the Alumni Association
Application Deadline: March 15
Scholarship: $1,000 for fall semester only.
Beth K. Fields Scholarship
This program provides funds to nontraditional students who are pursuing a degree at the university. This program was developed by the family of Beth Fields who worked in the Alumni Association until her death in 1993. Beth had also been a non-traditional student at UofL.
Requirements:
- Must be at least 25 years of age
- Must provide support for at least one dependent
- Must have a minimum of 12 semester hours college credit
- 3.0 GPA
- Must be a full-time student at the university for the semester in which the scholarship is awarded
- If you are a current Alumni Association scholarship recipient, you may reapply each year for up to four years
Include with the completed application:
- Resume or list of school, community and civic activities
- One page essay explaining your interest in the award and why you should receive the scholarship
- Two letters of recommendation--one must be from a professor or teacher, the other may be from an employer, community leader, friend or relative

Raymond A. Kent-Navy V-12/ROTC
This program provides funds to students who are direct descendants of an individual who served in the Navy V-12 program or the Naval ROTC program at UofL. It is funded through an endowed account established by alumni of the V-12 program.
Requirements:
- Must be a direct descendant of an individual who served in the Navy V-12 or the NROTC program
- Copy of all official transcripts
- 300-word essay topic: "The University of Louisville's slogan is 'It's Happening Here.' Tell us how you see UofL accomplishing this slogan and how you see yourself contributing to this challenge while at UofL."
- 3.0 GPA
- Two letters of recommendation--one must be from a professor or teacher, the other may be from an employer, community leader, friend or relative
