Students Paint the Town Red

Student Activities Center Multipurpose Room, 2-5 p.m.
Students will flaunt their spirit by hanging handmade Homecoming banners and vie for votes. Winners receive points towards the Spirit Contest. The Homecoming King and Queen Top 10 semifinalists will be announced. Sponsored by the Student Activities Board. Free.

This popular student-only Homecoming event is celebrating its tenth year. Sponsored by SAB. $4.

6th Annual Homecoming Block Party

Third and Cardinal Blvd., 3-9 p.m.
Bring the family and enjoy carnival rides, inflatables, funnel cakes and live music—and the Homecoming Bed Races! All rides and food included with admission, excluding funnel cakes. This year we will be having competitions to contend for the Homecoming spirit award.  Some of the competitions include racing (3 p.m.), jousting (4 p.m.), the Annual Bed Races (5 p.m.), obstacle course (6 p.m.),and a mystery competition (7 p.m.).  This event is sponsored by the Student Activities Board, the President’s Office, Class Act Federal Credit Union, Office of Undergraduate Affairs, The Red Barn Alumni Association and Gray’s Bookstore. Free admission!

SOUL’s Day of Service

2-5 p.m.
Make a difference in the Louisville community by joining students, faculty, staff and alumni on a community service project.

Sites available: Wayside Christian Mission, St. John Center for Homeless Men, Salvation Army Center of Hope Shelter, and Society of St. Vincent de Paul Shelter.

Projects at the missions range from decorating for the season, painting, cleaning and serving food. Dress for mess. You must provide your own transportation and meet at your assigned site.  Once registration is received, an email with details about how to get to your site will be sent prior to the event. 

Sponsored by SAB, Office of Civic Engagement, Leadership and Service and the Alumni Association.

Louisville’s Homecoming in the Highlands

Baxter Avenue (between Highland and Christy Avenues), 6-9 p.m.

Come out for UofL’s first Homecoming block party and pep rally in the Highlands! Baxter Avenue will be closed to traffic, so this will be a true street party! 

UofL cheerleaders, athletes and the pep band will join fellow alumni, UofL fans and supporters for an unforgettable evening of fun!

WEAR RED and you'll receive drink specials at O'Shea's, Flanagan's (10% off food and drink orders all week long if you wear red!), Wick's, Molly Malone's, Quills Coffee, The Tequila Factory and Outlook Inn!

Quidditch Tournament

What game features players on broomsticks, a quaffle, a bludger and a golden snitch? Quidditch: the co-ed sport of wizards and witches in the Harry Potter series. UofL’s “muggle” students, playing for the Hogwarts houses, will vie for the title. Sponsored by SAB.

SOAR's Taste of Louisville and SAB’s Louisville’s Got Talent

SAC Multipurpose Room, 5-8 p.m.
Sample the best foods that local restaurants have to offer, then vote for your favorite from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Winners will receive “Louisville’s Best” awards. At 6 p.m. Louisville’s Got Talent starts. Be Piers Morgan for the evening and vote for the best performance by a student group. The student lip sync showcase will feature teams performing songs based on the 2009 Homecoming theme. While results are being tallied, the 2009 Homecoming Court will be announced. Sponsored by SOAR and SAB. Free.
