UofL vs. UK game watch Sunday, Aug. 31

There will be two game watches hosted by the Tampa Bay UofL Alumni Club. We hope to see you at one of them!

Look for the Cardinal Trailer parked in front of the bar. The party will start at 2:30 p.m. We will be having raffles and a 50/50 drawing. There is plenty of seating inside, and a nice outside deck. Special guest two-time pro Bowl selection in 1990 & 1992 Ernest Givens will be at the party to cheer on the Cards and sign autographs. Ernest is a former wide receiver from UofL. He also played in 10 NFL seasons from 1986-1995.

TBAC Member of the Month
August 2008

The UofL Tampa Bay Alumni Club is proud to name Jill Delaney as the Member of the Month for August 2008.

Jill is a U of L Adopted Alum. She was introduced to the Club by Matt and Lori Wright after Lori spotted Jill wearing a U of L sweatshirt in Publix at Tri City Plaza 19 years ago. She and Don have been dues-paying members ever since.
Born in Corydon, Indiana, Jill says that she is just a plain and simple lady who grew up in Southern Indiana. She loves horses and horseback riding! Jill has been married to her best friend, Don Delaney, for 24 years. They have 3 fantastic children all of whom they are so very proud. Mandy, age 32, is a teacher for Pinellas County; Misha, age 29, is an RN at All Childrens Hospital in St. Pete; and Matthew, age 19, is a race car driver and works at Donald and Jill’s company (Electric Motors Lift Station Service Inc.) They also have 3 beautiful grandchildren who completely brighten their lives – Alexis 8, Ethan 4 and Sydnie 11 months. Admittedly, Jill was converted to a U of L fan by Donald 25 years ago. Their first date was to a U of L football game.
Jill has been the Phone Chair and a member of the Steering Committee for many years. She has co-hosted many watch parties and a couple of Derby Parties when they owned the sports bars. Jill and Donald have been a great asset for the Club. The club was very pleased when she graciously volunteered to be the Club’s Phone Chair its 2008-2009 year.
As she has said, “Let’s have a great year!!!”

The Jack Schell Trophy

Named after the man who meant so much to the Club. As described by Mike Koebel, the first President of the UofL Tampa Bay Alumni Club, "Jack was an extremely soft-spoken man, but don't let that manner make you think he was any less determined. He knew what he wanted to accomplish and would let nothing or anyone stand in his way."

Jack was very active in the Club for many years. He was a charter member of the Club in 1987. And represented the Club at numerous College & Career nights in different counties. He would video tape high school football and basketball games and send the video tapes to the Athletic Department. He was "Mr. U of L TBAC".

Jack loved golf! It was fitting to name the trophy in his honor. Each year, beginning in 1999, the names of the winner of the U of L TBAC - Chi Chi Rodriguez Youth Foundation Golf Scramble have been engraved on the trophy.
