ACT! Activist Recognition Series

In honor of Black History Month, UofL’s Muhammad Ali Institute launched new program, the ACT! Activists Recognition Series led by LaJa Hurt, Program Assistant. Each Thursday in February 2020, we engaged the campus community with information and related educational activities about a Black activist in the Student Activities Center. Jadyn Langley, a Muhammad Ali Scholars joined the weekly program. . We selected Blair Imani, Claudette Colvin, Dick Gregory, and Rosa Clemente as the four activists who were recognized during Black History Month. Students, faculty and staff who stopped by our  table in the SAC learned more about the unique contributions of these activists, and collected buttons with quotes from each activist. Everyone was encouraged to collect all four  buttons with the quotes by coming to our table each week. Anyone who collected all of the buttons received a free Muhammad Ali Institute t-shirt.
