Professor of Aerospace Studies

Lt Col Acevedo is the Commander, Air Force ReserveAcevedo

Officer Training Corps  (AFROTC) Detachment 295,

University of Louisville.  He commands, leads, directs,

and manages the unit that administers a college-level officer

training program.  He also serves as the senior Air Force

officer at a geographically separated unit.  In essence, he

ultimately determines who receives an Air Force commission.

The University of Louisville endows Lt Col Acevedo with

the status of full Professor and Chair of the Department of

Aerospace Studies where his 6-person Cadre team instructs

freshman-level through senior-level courses on the Foundations

of the US Air Force and National Security Affairs.

Lt Col Acevedo was commissioned through the AFROTC program at the University of Miami in 1997.  He began his active duty experience as a student pilot at Columbus Air Force Base,

Mississippi where he quickly learned that flying was not his forte.  Lt Col Acevedo then served in various airfield operations disciplines (i.e. Air Traffic Control, Airfield Management,
