1. What is your favorite thing about advising U of L students?
U of L students are a melting pot of backgrounds, experiences, and interests. It is inspiring to hear their stories and assist them with their current and future ambitions.
2. What is your favorite thing about working or living in the city of Louisville? I live in Shelbyville, but I love driving into the city to enjoy all the delicious local restaurants Louisville has to offer.
3. How many years have you been advising students? Eight years
4. What is your alma mater? University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire
5. Name one interesting activity/hobby that you do outside of your profession (i.e. recreational sports, collecting, gardening, cooking). Food is my passion. I have a small garden and love to try new recipes (sometimes they turn out great and sometimes my dogs won’t touch the stuff). I also love the Packers and am very interested to see how the next season will go.
6. What has been your favorite place to travel to? Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
7. If you could visit one place that you have never been to, where would you like to go? Thailand
8. What was the last book you read? Developing Reflective Judgment by King & Kitchener
9. If you could interview one living person in the world, who would you pick and why? I would interview Nelson Mandela to hear about his life experiences and how things have changed in South Africa since the abolition of apartheid.
10. What is your favorite quote or “saying”? “May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face—the rain fall soft upon your fields. Until we meet again, may God hold you in the hollow of his hand.” –An Irish blessing
11. If you had a personal chef for the day, what is the one meal you would request? Any meal that included lobster, cheese, or mashed potatoes would be fine by me.
12. What is the one piece of advice that you wish you could tell all U of L students? I would tell students to get the most out of your time at the University. Take a variety of classes, volunteer, travel, participate in extra-curricular activities, and meet as many friends, faculty, and staff as you can.
13. What is one thing that you are proud of about your advising experiences at U of L? My assistance has positively impacted someone’s undergraduate experience at the university.
14. What was your favorite band / singer or movie in high school? The Beastie Boys were my favorite band in high school.
15. Why did you choose to work for U of L? U of L affords me the opportunity to better myself and those around me. I am a people person and I enjoy helping students realize their potential.
16.What question would you like the next "Advisor in the Spotlight" to answer? What are your plans after you retire from U of L?
