Open Enrollment
Plan
Who can be covered under UofL insurance benefits?
Employees, spouses, a qualifying adult, dependent children, retirees and their spouses under age 65, COBRA participants and surviving spouses (under age 65) of employees and retirees.
What types of benefits are available?
Plans include health, dental, vision, flexible spending account and Get Healthy Now.
What can I do during open enrollment?
You can switch health plans; change the people covered on your health, vision or dental plans; you can begin or continue participation in Get Healthy Now; and you can sign up for a flexible spending account. You also can waive coverage under a UofL health plan.
What do I have to do?
You do not have to do anything during open enrollment unless you want a flexible spending account, are changing plans or people covered, are a health insurance waiver who wants some of all of your money in a dependent care flexible spending account or want to participate in Get Healthy Now and save $20/month on health insurance. If you have dental or vision coverage, your coverage will automatically transfer to the new carriers unless you make changes.
The pre-tax benefit choices you make during open enrollment take effect Jan. 1, 2008, and remain in place through Dec. 31, 2008. After Jan. 1, you can make changes to your benefits only if you notify Human Resources within 30 days of a qualifying event (new window) and provide proper documentation.
