Dan O'Rourke

Dan O’Rourke teaches English at Riverside-Brookfield High School in Chicago’s western suburbs. Dan completed both his undergraduate and graduate degrees at Villanova University, where he earned a BA in English and Philosophy and an MA in English with a focus on 18th-century Irish Literature. Dan has taught a wide variety of English courses over his 27-year career, including AP English Language & Composition, which he has taught for 21 years. Dan also plays a major role in developing curricula at his school—especially for cross-curricular programs that involve the AP English Language course. For the past 15 summers, Dan has served as an AP Reader and Table Leader for the AP English Language exam. A National Board Certified teacher and mentor, Dan is accustomed to lending a helping hand to his colleagues seeking professional development. Dan works as a College Board consultant and as an educational consultant for the National Math and Science Initiative (NMSI) and the Colorado Education Initiative. In addition, he presents regularly at state and national conferences, most recently at the 2016 AP Annual Conference in Anaheim and the 2016 College Board National Forum in Chicago.
