NODA Appropriate Language Statement: As educators of students and colleagues, conference presenters must be particularly sensitive to and aware of the issues of language, and the perpetuation of stereotypes and erroneous assumptions. Presenters are strongly advised to model behavior that will educate their audience. All conference participants, presenters, and entertainers are expected to use appropriate sensitive and inclusive terminology so NODA will provide an environment which is comfortable for everyone.

Educational sessions are essential to the purpose and mission of the annual SROW conference.  SROW logoYour participation as a presenter is crucial to the success of each presentation.  Undergraduates, graduates and professional staff are all encouraged to consider submitting a program proposal for the 2010 SROWtally ‘80s in the Ville conference.  Program proposals will be reviewed by a committee of graduate students and professional staff from our region and selected based heavily on the following criteria:

  • Geared toward at least one of the specific populations in attendance at the conference (undergraduate, graduate, professional staff)
  • Provides participants with new and creative ideas, concepts or research related to but not limited to the following areas: new student and family orientation, welcome weekend, first year programming, campus visit programs, higher education trends and initiatives, personal and staff development, transfer student issues, motivation, wellness, new campus technologies, diversity awareness or activities, business and/or services related to the field of higher education, leadership classes and so much more.
  • Proposals are well thought out, edited and submitted on time.
  • Creative presentation styles and concepts.

Additional criteria may be used to make final approval decisions.  It is great to incorporate the conference theme in the proposal and session however that is not required and should not take away from the overall content of the session.  If you have questions please do not hesitate to contact our educational session chairperson, Megan Adams, 502.852.7540 or megan.adams@louisville.edu.

Deadline for Program Proposals: Feb. 5, 2010
