Assistance to new students and parents

  • Welcome new students and parents to UofL and assist them with orientation check-in.
  • Develop a rapport with new students and parents, especially with those in the small groups as well as others with whom he/she comes in contact.
  • Help to make new students assimilate, feel welcome, and get involved with the UofL community.
  • Be accessible and willing to assist with any information needs of parents and students throughout each orientation session.
  • Prepare and conduct well-organized and thorough small group meetings and/or campus tours for new students and their parents.
  •  Serve as an academic and social role model at all times.
  •  Educational duties

  • Complete all training and requirements.
  • Enroll in the designated section of ECPY 355 in Spring 2012.
  • Communicate information to students about academics resources and student activities/services available at UofL.
  • Assist students with their understanding about academic requirements.
  • Educate students about their responsibilities at UofL by explaining university policies and procedures.
  • Help students understand all logistical information in order to ease their transition into university life at UofL.
  • Maintain required GPA.

Administrative responsibilities

  • Attend all training sessions, meetings, skit practices, etc.
  • Be punctual in Orientation activities including training sessions, meetings, and orientation sessions.
  • Complete all logistical tasks as requested by the Orientation staff to ensure the program proceeds smoothly and effectively.
  • Maintain regular communications with Orientation supervisors and discuss with them situations that warrant their attention or action.
  • With a positive attitude, participate in all assigned duties of Orientation fully and take initiative with unanticipated tasks or problems.
  • Assist presenters at scheduled programs, meetings, and sessions throughout orientation.
  • Be supportive of all members on the Orientation staff.
  • Complete staff assignments and evaluation reports of the Orientation process.
  • Respond appropriately to feedback and program evaluations.
  • Fulfill two hour office commitment in Spring 2012.
  • Remain flexible at all times. Last minute as well as major programmatic changes may occur at any time.

Accountability

Failure to complete responsibilities and inappropriate conduct may result in a warning, probation, or removal from staff.
