- How do I register for orientation?
You must submit your orientation registration online. Once you have reviewed all essential information, click the link to begin the registration process. Register now. - Can I register for orientation over the phone?
No, only the online registration form is accepted. Your fee can be paid with MasterCard, Visa, Discover, or Electronic Check. - What business will I take care of during orientation?
You will meet with an academic adviser, register for classes, get your Student ID, purchase your parking permit, athletic season tickets and learn about campus practices & policies. - What will I do at orientation?
You will meet with your academic adviser, develop an academic flight plan, and register for classes. Also, you will spend time with a current student mentor who will discuss opportunities outside the classroom, programs and resources. You will work with your mentor to ensure a successful transition to UofL. - Do I have to attend orientation?
Yes, orientation is mandatory for new freshmen and transfer students. - What do I have to bring to orientation? (freshmen only)
You can bring a credit card, checks or cash to cover some expenses, order athletic season tickets, buy an orientation t-shirt and the book-in-common (cash/check only), or parking. Please bring your UserID (located on your Certificate of Admission) and your updated password ; you will need them to register for classes. - Where do I park?
Free parking is available only in the main entrance of the Floyd St. Parking Garage on the first morning of your session. The gate will be lifted at 7 a.m. If you park elsewhere, we cannot refund any fee or ticket assessed for alternate parking choices. DO NOT PARK ON THE PAY/VISITOR SIDE OF THE LOT. - I cannot attend any of the session dates. Are there other options?
No. You must attend a listed session date. - Am I required to stay on campus during the entire program?
Yes. All components of the program are mandatory. If you leave at anytime during the program you will not be able to register for classes. - What do I do if I have to work?
Please make arrangements with your employer, we can provide documentation that you attended or plan to attend orientation. - Can I bring a friend or significant other to orientation?
Family members may register for family orientation. Family Orientation is $40 per participant. (The Family Orientation program is separate at times from students.) - When will I be finished?
You should be done by 4:30 p.m., but individual circumstances can cause a student to stay until 5 p.m. - Why does orientation cost $130?
The fee covers the cost of lodging, four meals, related materials, entertainment and processing fees. - What should I wear?
Dress is casual. We will be indoors and outdoors; don’t forget to bring an umbrella if rain is in the forecast! Some rooms are cooler than others, so dress accordingly. - Can I see the room I am going to live in while I am at orientation?
Housing will open rooms during the evening tours if vacant. If occupied, a similar room will be shown. Miller Hall will be unavailable to view during orientation due to building upgrades and construction work. Information will be available in the Housing Office. - Do my parents have to come?
We offer an optional Family Orientation ($40 per participant) separate from Freshman Orientation. You can meet up during lunch and dinner. - Can my parents come with me to my advising session?
No, you will meet with professional staff to ensure that you make an appropriate schedule. Schedules can be discussed with families at meals. - What do I do about AP classes?
Results from AP exams won’t be available until after orientation. Your academic adviser will help you plan an appropriate schedule. Contact your adviser after orientation upon receipt of your scores if any changes are necessary. - Are there any financial aid resouces you can offer?
