- How do I register for orientation?
You will register for orientation directly from the Orientation Website. The link, located on the Information Page, says “click here to submit your registration.” Once you have read the important information, click the link to begin the registration process. - Can I register for orientation over the phone?
No. Only the on line registration form is accepted. Your fee can be paid with MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Discover, or Electronic Check. - What business will I take care of at orientation?
You will register for classes, get your Student ID and have the option to purchase your parking permit, athletic season tickets and pre-pay for your textbooks. - What will I do at orientation?
You will meet with your academic advisor and register for classes. We discuss various opportunities outside the classroom, utilize campus programs and resources and assist you to set realistic goals. Check out the complete agenda. - Can I check in early?
This must be indicated on your online registration form. There is no additional charge; however, you must live 75 miles or more from campus. Sorry, we are unable to accommodate family members. Hotel and lodging information. - Do I have to attend orientation?
Yes, orientation is mandatory for new freshmen and it is where you will register for your classes. - What do I have to bring to orientation?
Bring a sleeping bag or linens, pillow, toiletries, towel and alarm clock. You can bring a credit card or checks to pre-pay for textbooks, order athletic season tickets, or parking. Please bring your USERID and password located on your acceptance letter; you will need them to register for classes. - Where do I park?
Free parking is available only in the Floyd St. parking garage on the first morning of your session. If you park elsewhere, we cannot refund any fee or ticket assessed for alternate parking choices - I cannot attend any of the session dates. Are there other options?
No. There are ten sessions that you can choose from. - Do I have to spend the night, even if I live in the area?
Yes. Programming runs until late in the evening and begins early the next morning. In addition, the safety of our students is important, and requiring that you remain on campus helps maintain a safe environment. - Am I required to stay on campus during the entire program?
Yes. All components of the program are mandatory. If you leave at anytime during the program you cannot register for classes. - What do I do if I have to work?
Please make arrangements with your employer, we can provide documentation that you attended or plan to attend orientation. - What if I need to change my session?
Please consider the dates carefully, consult your calendar, and discuss choices with family members to make sure there are no conflicts. Consider graduation activities, sports tournaments, vacations, and conflicts with your parents’ schedules. One change can be made without charge; however, a $25 processing fee is charged for each change there after. Please use our Request Form. - What if I want to change my major?
It is possible that your orientation date will need to be changed as well. There are limits on the number of majors per session. Please use our Request Form. - What if I did not attend my confirmed session and did not notify your office beforehand or give an appropriate notice?
A written request must be postmarked ten (10) days prior to your confirmed session. A $50 processing fee will be charged to reschedule another session. - My friend and I scheduled our orientation on the same day, but he/she got their first choice and I didn’t.
Schedules are made on a first come, first served basis, but we have to limit the number of students per major per session. Your major may have been full. - Can I bring a friend or significant other to orientation?
No, parents/guardians may register for parent orientation. Parent Orientation is $40 per parent. - Can I request a roommate?
No, however, if you and a friend check-in at the same time the morning of your orientation we can place you in a room together. - When will I be finished on the second day?
You should be done by 4:30pm, but individual circumstances can cause a student to stay until 5:00pm. - Why does orientation cost $125?
The fee covers the cost of the overnight stay in Miller Hall, four meals, related materials, entertainment and processing fees. - What should I wear?
Dress is casual. We will be indoors and outdoors; don’t forget to bring an umbrella if rain is in the forecast! - Can I see the room I am going to live in while I am at orientation?
Housing will show it during the evening tours if vacant. If occupied, we can show a similar room. - How safe is the Residence Hall?
Students stay on gender specific wings of Miller Hall in assigned rooms. Orientation Staff plus members of our Professional Staff will stay in the hall. There will be a security guard throughout the night. - Do my parents have to come?
We offer an optional Parent Orientation ($40 per parent) separate from Freshman Orientation. You can “catch up” at lunch and dinner. - Can my parents come with me to my advising session?
No, you will meet with professional staff to ensure that you make an appropriate schedule for you. Schedules can be discussed with parents at meals. - What do I do about AP classes?
Results from AP exams won’t be available until after orientation. Your academic advisor will help you plan an appropriate schedule. Contact your advisor after orientation upon receipt of your scores if any changes are necessary.
