Checklist
Use this list as a guide so that you are sure to take care of important business before the start of school in August. Pay special attention to some items that should be done before your orientation session.
- Know your student ID number. This number is on your Certificate of Admission.
- Learn how to check your UofL email accounts. Many departments will only send information to you through your UofL account. Your orientation confirmation will ONLY be sent to your UofL account. To access your groupwise email go to: gwweb.louisville.edu
- If you are planning to live on campus please apply for housing as soon as possible. You can apply for housing online. Visit louisville.edu/student/housing to submit your application online.
- Submit your orientation registration request online.
- Review your Financial Aid award letter, please feel free bring your questions to your orientation session to discuss with a financial aid counselor.
- Complete the Foreign Language Placement test online by May 16, 2008. You will NOT be allowed to register for any foreign language courses if you do not complete this exam prior to your orientation session. THIS IS A CRITICAL COMPONENT TO YOUR ACADEMIC ADVISING SESSION.
- Review the information for your academic major on the UofL homepage to prepare for your academic advising appointment. Academic departments can be found through the UofL homepage under each unit.
- FRESHMEN-Understand the First Year Writing Portfolio Process. You can access more information on this program on our links page.
- FRESHMEN-After your orientation session view and complete the assessments for STOMP. You will receive this information during your orientation.
- TRANSFERS-You MUST review and complete the assessments for STOMP prior to your academic advising appointment. You will be unable to make that appointment before you score 70% or better on the STOMP assessment.
- Be sure to activate your Higher One card. This is a requirement for all

- Plan to participant in many of the Welcome Weekend events planned for the weekend prior to the start of classes. Many events are open to everyone, friends, family and especially you.
