Late Orientation

You are now a proud member of the Cardinal Family. There are so many things to learn about over the next several months. This is the perfect place to begin your transition as a UofL student. New Student and Parent Orientation will jump start your cardinal experience. There are three orientation experiences so please read all of the information on this site and correctly choose which option you will select in the registration process. Each orientation program is designed to familiarize you with what happens on the UofL campus and how you can Be A Part of It All! We have developed the New Student and Parent Orientations with the following learning outcomes in mind:

  1. New students will be engaged in the academic advising process. The role of the unit advisor(s) will be explained in relation to the development of a student’s individual academic plan while attending the University of Louisville. In addition students will be given the tools to identify academic support services provided for them throughout the academic year.

  2. Each new student will be able to articulate how to reconcile and pay their tuition and fees bill. Students will be taken to the Bursar and Financial Aid offices. Additionally, new students will leave New Student Orientation with a timeline of payment, add and drop schedule for courses and the knowledge of how to properly withdraw or take a leave of absence without financial or academic penalty. Students will also have a clear picture of how scholarship dollars are applied to the University of Louisville statement and how residual money is disbursed at the beginning of each semester.

  3. In an effort to ensure that new students are connected to the University of Louisville, Orientation Programs will develop intentional interactive and informative sessions geared at highlighting ways students can get involved in co curricular activities and acculturated with university. Students will also be exposed to information about becoming a residential student, how to find on and off campus jobs and first year initiative programs aimed at easing their transition from high school to college. Exposure to potential transitional issues will be discussed with identified methods of how to locate University support for those areas.

  4. Upon completion of New Student & Parent Orientation students will have a clear picture of the next steps in the University of Louisville experience. Tasks that need to be completed and programs before the start of the semester will be highlighted before the conclusion of each orientation session.

Now select which category you are part of to continue in the New Student and Parent Orientation registration process: Freshman, Transfer/Adult, Parent
