Rhea Lehman (Visiting Assistant Professor)
Rhea Lehman received her PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and has been a faculty member at the University of Kentucky and St. Lawrence University. While on staff at Actors Theatre of Louisville she served as NEH Project Director of the Classics in Context Festival devoted to the Victorians. She performed as a soloist with Dance Theatre of the Hemispheres and toured with them for several years. She has been awarded numerous grants for the development of new performances, and her latest directing credits include Marisol, Goodnight Desdemona (Good Morning Juliet), Lysistrata, and David’s Redhaired Death. Her current research examines how dance virtuosity functioned in antebellum America’s evolving constructs of gender, race and class.
