Designing Safe
Campuses
School safety is a priority! Recent incidents of school
and campus violence have prompted reconsiderations of how we
design and manage schools and colleges. The University of
Louisville's National Crime Prevention Institute is
responding to this urgent need by offering this must-attend
seminar.
This seminar focuses on
designing safe academic environments as well as developing
school emergency planning programs, but it also offers
real-world experience in conducting school security assessments
that will equip attendees with practical, cost-effective and
proactive recommendations for addressing school and campus
security utilization.
This workshop also addresses
architectural design issues including, CPTED, lighting, access
control, landscaping, signage, security technologies, and
procedural measures that can be used to improve the overall
security of the school or campus.
