Criminal Justice Seminar Experiences Cultural Revelation
Cobblestone streets, exposed plazas, ornate and opulent chapels and a slow-delicate pace would describe the city of Morelia in the state of Michoacán, Mexico. Following the Honors Overseers International Seminar titled "Comparative Criminal Justice Systems" taught by Professor Deborah Wilson, sixteen students spent ten days in Mexico studying its criminal justice system.

"U of L's Own Rhodes" and Other Opportunities

"U of L's own Rhodes" is a reference used by some to identify an extraordinary post-graduate scholarship available to students in the College of Arts and Sciences at U of L. The reference developed because the funding for the Mary Churchill Humphrey endowed Centenary Memorial Scholarship is comparable to the prestigious Rhodes Scholarship.

Commercial marketers identify a distinctive product with a unique name that eliminates confusion. We could call our premier program in the University Honors Program some equivalent of Corvette, iPod, or even a name with a narrative twist, something equivalent to the Return-of-the-King Program.

Etscorn Center Delights Honors

The Irvin F. and Alice S. Etscorn Honors Center opened in time for the new school year in August 2004 providing nearly 3,000 additional square feet of geographic space to enhance Honors resources. As for imaginative intellectual space, the resources have opened up a whole new realm. .

Honors Learning Communities pair classes to provide students opportunities to establish rapport with those holding similar interests.
