HONORS PICNICHSC ElectionEnd-of-Semester Celebration! Another outstanding year in the Honors Program is about to get better yet: election of the first Honors Student Council takes place at the end-of-year picnic. On Monday, April 24 -- the last day of class -- join us around 11:30 a.m. for a celebratory picnic. Candidate fliers will be available with balloting taking place in the Honors House. Elected positions are: president, vice president, treasurer, secretary and sergeant-at-arms. We’ll eat outside near the Honors House if the weather is nice, inside if it is wet. Remember, come early as the food is first come, first served.Goldwater ScholarsU of L Honors students Boris Chernomordik (chemical engineering) and David Soleimani-Meigooni (biology, concentration in subcellular and genetics) have been named Goldwater Scholars. The award is the premier national undergraduate award in the fields of mathematics, natural sciences and engineering. This year 323 Goldwater scholars were named. Both David and Boris are sophomores, unusual for an award that typically is received by juniors. Multiple awards at one university are also very uncommon.![]() Boris Chernomordik and David Soleimani-Meigooni
