Celebrate the Arts and Sciences Centennial
2007 marks the100th anniversary of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Louisville, and it’s time to celebrate!
If you are one of our A&S Alumni and you have lost touch with A&S and with your fellow classmates and professors over the years, our Centennial celebration provides us the opportunity to renew old ties and forge new ones. Just as our alumni shared some part of the past with us, we want to share the next phase of our journey with you. This is particularly important to me—as a Louisville native, a University of Louisville alumnus and now dean of the College in which I completed most of my undergraduate work. This is also a time when we want to renew contact with friends of the college who have supported our goals with their gifts and their service.
In that spirit, we will keep all A&S Alumni informed of our many programs and outstanding students, alumni, faculty and staff by sending copies of The Portal, our award-winning newsletter, as well as emails and letters. We also invite you to establish contact with the A&S Alumni Council and, of course, you have a standing invitation to visit campus and attend the many events sponsored by the College—particularly during this Centennial year.
As we celebrate our Centennial throughout the next year, we take immense pride in the achievements of our alumni, students and faculty, both past and present. More than anything, however, we are excited, challenged and inspired by the possibilities of our future—and our vision to become the next great college of the liberal arts and sciences in the United States. I look forward to hearing from you and hope that you will be able to attend one or more of our Centennial events.
Sincerely,

Dr. J. Blaine Hudson
Dean, and
Professor of Pan-African Studies
